Marlene Kemp

from Marlene:-

"Started singing in 1990 after completing singing lessons with John Crossing.

I sang with amateur groups THE TROUBADOURS and the MARIE CLARK SINGERS for 12 months after which I was asked by local entertainer Peter Williams to join him doing floor shows and singing with him at various clubs and restaurants.

After 12 months with Peter I began a duo CLASS ACTION with a keyboard player Gerry Hutton. We generally worked 2-3 times a week with regular work at venues.
HAMSTEAD HOTEL every Thursday night doing country music. CRUISING YATCH CLUB OF S.A. monthly dinner dances.
HOTEL ENFIELD dinner dances 2-3 a week

Over the years since I have worked with other keyboard players still as CLASS ACTION working regularly at hotels such as MODBURY HOTEL
HIGHLANDER HOTEL
TORRENS ARMS HOTEL

BREMEN HOTEL and others

I have also worked various restaurants, clubs, weddings etc.

These days I do a lot of solo work with computer assisted music
for elderly groups i.e. Senior Citizens, Nursing Homes, Retirement Villages, Disabled.

My style is versatile, covering most styles of music including a good deal of country classics."

She is not strictly country, but others keep telling her she is country. She plays a bit of everything!

She has done walkups at the Adelaide Country Music Club, the Southern Country Music Club and performed at many venues through the years. She has worked duo with Dean Bird, worked with Chooka Williams at the Southern Country Music Club and done walk ups with Murray Mac, and at the Adelaide Country Music Club these would all be a few years back.
