Trevor Philbey

After having spent virtually all his life in the Mallee, Trevor recently made the move away from his home town of Lameroo to the “big smoke”, and is now living at Evanston, near Gawler.

Whilst music has always been a major part of his life (always got a song going round in the head, or re arranging a song) it frequently took a back seat to other issues, farming, truck driving, agripolitics, raising a family, etc,. Trevor has two sons and a daughter, all with their own families and is enormously proud of them.

In March 2006 he enrolled in a 12 month course at the School of Audio Engineering and completed it with a credit in May 2007. Along with his guitar playing, over many years in many bands long since gone, this new outlook on the music/audio scene is giving him a new lease on life.

Trevor is known as a solo artist and has been playing solo for many years in the Mallee and more recently in the Barossa Valley. He has a collection of guitars which allows him to vary his style and gives him the opportunity to play in many different genres of  music. His love of music and the guitar in particular drives him to achieve a sound which is distinctly his own. His playing style has been influenced over the years by such greats as Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Hank Marvin to name a few.

He has set up a project studio at his home in Evanston, for small recording sessions, using ProTools software and associated equipment and is gaining a reputation  for his attention to detail in the recording scene.

In recent times Trevor has supported various artists as backup guitarist, and played lead with the DV8s. He has now combined with a group of seasoned musicians and started the band “Flashpoint”, a four piece group with a wide variety of influences and some remarkable three part harmonies.

Trevor has set up a PA system using all new high quality components, such as a Midas Verona console, JBL and EAW powered speakers, and Klark Teknik and dbx outboard rack gear, with a wide selection of mics to cover most requirements. The system will cater to medium sized venues and provide exceptional quality sound.

Trevor can be contacted on 0408 763 326.
