JUST A MURRAY RIVER GIRL

Gail Smith spent most of her childhood travelling the rivers of Victoria and N.S.W with her mother , sister and Grandparents catching fish and yabbies for a living.

She was always surrounded in country music as her mother was a great fan and played records continuously throughout Gail’s childhood. Whilst in her teens, Gail’s family moved to sunraysia and it was in Mildura where Gail’s career flourished.

Gail brought her first guitar and began teaching herself to play and sing. She then joined the Country Music Club and began singing lessons and also she began to enter Talent Quests throughout Australia. Gail won the Victorian Champion of Champions at Mildura, and it was this win that took her to the next step which was to record an album.

Gail recorded her debut album with Lyndsay Butler studios which gained a great deal of attention on radio and with awards gaining a final spot a Whittlesea, with her track STRONG ENOUGH TO BEND.

In 2002, Gail headed of to Tamworth to attend the COLLEGE OF COUNTRY MUSIC to further her songwriting skills. At College she worked with some amazing people along with her favourite artist, Becci cole. It was at College that Gail was introduced to Producer ROGER CORBETT, who produced Gail’s second album GOOD TO BE HERE. The album has had two singles lifted those being MURRAY RIVER GIRL and GOOD TO BE HERE.

Murray river girl was penned especially for Gail by GOLDEN GUITAR WINNER NORMA MURPHY, and the song reflects Gail’s life. This song gained her a second place at Whittlesea in Victorian female vocal and she also gained a further 5 final spots with other tracks , including MY BEST FRIEND and the duet with Starmaker winner TODD WILLIAMS called ALL I HAVE TO OFFER YOU IS ME.

Murray river girl also gained her a hit charting at number 7 on Hot FM’S 106.7 Country Charts. Gail says”( she always gets excited everytime she performs songs off her latest album as 4 of them are self written) and there are other songs written by AL ANDERSON, KIM RICHEY and JERRY SALLEY. Gail looks forward to recording in the future and continuing her songwritting and singing her songs.

Kiera Smith took the stage alongside her mother GAIL SMITH at the tender age of three. It was in her home town of Mildura that she made her debut in a Talent Quest of which she won first

Place and from that day on she has continued entering the Talent Quest circuit winning over 40 trophies for her efforts.

At age 4, Kiera and her mum auditioned for a TELEVISION Talent Show called POT OF GOLD where the pair were placed second. Kiera also came runner up at age 5 on HEY HEY IT’S SATURDAY.

Kiera has been a performer in various Charity events, gaining experience with stage, and allowing the audiences to connect with Kiera’s charisma and strong presence.

Kiera has been a leader in her school bands as a vocalist/ guitarist and harmonies.

Kiera is now 15 years of age (2006) and has a strong desire to pursue her dreams as a country music singer/ performer. Kiera is also eager to gain experience in songwriting, she has recently written a song with her mum which is about how Kiera has spent all her life singing country music as its Kiera’s dream.
