Top Dead Centre is a mixture of Country, Rock, Jazz, Bluegrass and Rockabilly all combined in to the compact grouping of a four piece band. With Professional musicians at the core of this band it has a sound that is big, fresh and gets the audience up and going. The innovative arrangements played will leave audiences saying ‘wow’.

David Gebert Bass Guitar / Lead Vocalist
David began his music career at the age of twelve playing drums for old time dance bands in SA’s Mid North. From there he moved into Country Bands and has never looked back.

He studied Music at University gaining a Bachelor of Music in Education in 1994 He won a large number of Vocal Awards including Best Male Vocal, Best Gospel, Duets, Band and Best Overall Performer at Festivals such as Port Pirie, Riverland, Keith, and Gawler Country Music Festivals before moving on to becoming a professional musician.

He has played and recorded with artists such as Gold Guitar winners, Beccy Cole, Felicity, Brian Young, The Dead Ringer Band and Country Music Legends such as Jimmy Little, Trev Warner, Dennis Siddle (Trev, Rick and Dennis) & Stan Coster and Aria winner Kasey Chambers.

David is a full time music teacher who describes the band as “ An absolute thrill to play with muso’s that just fit together. Everything works and sounds great!”

Steve Gregory Lead Guitar / Vocals
Steve began playing the guitar at the age 17.Steve’s first inspiration was heavy metal, quickly mastering the styles of Metallica, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. After playing in many of South Australia’s leading metal bands between 1993 and 1999, he decided to take a short break from music.

Two years later Steve returned to music again with a fresh view point - Country, Blues, Rockabilly and Jazz. In 2003 Steve was offered the lead guitar spot in SA’s biggest Rockabilly band ‘Andy and the Rockits’. After a two year stint with the Rockits, Steve auditioned and landed the gig for the Australian Buddy Holly Show and toured Australia with this show.

Top Dead Centre is Steve’s latest band, by Steve’s description it’s a country, blues, rockabilly, jazz, rock n’ roll band, with a twist of bluegrass.

Greg "Short Wheelbase" Smallwood Drummer
One of S.A's top musicians Greg Smallwood has worked in the music industry for over 30 years. His early years (1974 -1979) were spent hopping between bands on the west coast of South Australia, playing everything from old time dance numbers to jazz, country and rock.

In the early 80's he hooked up with "The Buddy Williams Show" and did the last leg of Buddy's final Australian Tour which ended in Tamworth NSW the country music capital of Australia. From then on he never looked back.

He has spent many hours in recording studios all over Australia working for many artists, Barry Thornton, Lindsay Butler, Troy Casser Daly, The Deadringer Band and Beccy Cole to name a few.

He has worked with Brian Young (four Australian tours), The Dead Ringer Band, Stan Coster, Jimmy Little, Ted Egan, Paul Wooky, Greg Champion, Alan Caswell, Adam Harvey and many many more.

He has been a part of South Australia’s premium country backing band "The Miller Band" for the last 20+ years.

Greg has also worked with some of South Australia’s top rock/R&B outfits.

His latest project is a four piece band called "Top Dead Centre" playing a mixture of country, country rock, western swing and soft rock covers.

Victoria Von Bertouch Keyboards / Vocals
Victoria adds colour to the band with her ability to produce excellent harmonies and her fantastic keyboard playing as well as her gutsy singing style that has her performing everything from Kasey Chambers and Patsy Cline to Bonnie Rait in a husky blues style that epitomises top notch country female vocals.

She has played music all her life performing with a range of fantastic artists (including support act for James Morrison) and is currently teaching music at Kapunda High School and performs in local music productions in the Barossa Valley.

Victoria loves teaching kids to keep the next generation going, enjoys all kind of music particularly Root’s/ Blues, Classic rock and good Country music.

Victoria describes the band as “A bunch of very talented musicians, who are flexible, versatile with a great sense of fun. It’s a blast!!”

Top Dead Centre is THE band for your next night of entertainment. It Rocks, it’s Fun and it does things to songs like you’ve never heard before. It leaves the audience wanting for more. You WILL have these guys back again!! You WILL have these guys back again!!
