As a teenager, I often sang at social functions, where my brother's band "The Castle men", were performing. I grew up in Castlemaine, surrounded by bushland in an area rich in gold mining, and early pioneering history. I lived there until I married Richard. We had two daughters, who kept us both fully occupied, until they were grown. In 1989 we went on a 5 day bus trip to the Tamworth festival, the next year we went back again. I had always liked to sing, and after being inspired at Tamworth, decided to buy a guitar, and spent many happy hours teaching myself to play it. I had often written poetry, but then discovered that I could write songs as well. I have produced a hook of my poems called "POTPOURRI" I am inspired, and encouraged by good friends, like well known country artists. Olive Bice, Anne Conway, Lois Hall, & Steve Virtue, Desree Illona Crawford and Dinah Rae have recorded my material. We became involved, making lots of new friends, at local music clubs,
gaining confidence to per form in public. Country music clubs I often
perform at include:- My first cassette, "Destiny", was recorded at "Birubi" studio, in Tongala. It was very well received, and given substantial air play, leading to an invitation to be a featured artist on the "Birubi" road shows, at Tamworth &Mildura festivals. I feature on the 'Birubi' compilation albums. (# 3 & if 5). Following this, I have since been featured at Tamworth, on :- I regularly appear at Mildura festival, and at South Australia's River/and
festival, winning busker's award in 1997, 1998, 2000. I have been a finalist at the Bendigo country talent club song writing
contests on several occasions. My recorded product Includes: My Husband Richard shares & supports my interest in music. He understands sound and equipment. His support is invaluable! Our family also share our interests, and I am again singing with my brother Graham (Butterworth), and his wife Kay, who have recently moved back to Victoria, after living in the North for many years. Recent times have seen us performing as "Campaspe Country". I am available for functions, or festivals. Phone (03) 5484 1320. |
