Charlie McCracken, Singer/Songwriter


Charlie McCracken is a Country Music Singer and Songwriter from O’Sullivan Beach in South Australia. His rich baritone voice has been heard on stages and radio stations all around Australia. Many of his fans have said he sounds a lot like one of his heroes, Waylon Jennings. Singing the songs of famous Country artists such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Don Gibson, Vern Gosdin and Waylon Jennings to name a few, Charlie’s classical approach to Country Music endears him to true Country Music fans everywhere he goes. Charlie is spending an increasing amount of time each year performing his music in Clubs and Festivals in South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria and promoting his latest album, a tribute to Waylon Jennings entitled “The Mirror Of My Soul”, released in May 2014. Charlie is also preparing for an upcoming live tribute show called the “Stars In Heaven Tribute Show” in which he and his partner Tom Routledge pay tribute to the music of Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and Gene Pitney, opening in Port Pirie, South Australia in October 2014. Charlie’s early career began in Western Australia, listening to the music of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and many more. While maintaining a daytime job he played for a number of years in Western Australia, before moving to South Australia in the late eighties. After many years of performing in Western Australia and South Australia, Charlie was inducted into the South Australian Country Music Hall Of fame in 2004. Charlie has a Diploma of Music industry (Technical Production) and is the proprietor of CBM Records, a music production business and recording studio called “The Refinery” in South Australia. His first album, “This Is Charlie McCracken”, was released in January, 2010. Charlie is a professional member of the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA), and Country Music SA Inc. (CMSA), and Full Writer Member of the Australasian Performing Right Association Limited (APRA).
