Len O'Connor
Bassist - Vocals / Harmony - Songwriter Awaiting an update from Len (Mar 2011) Melbourne born and bred on Boxing Day 1943, Len has spent his lifetime around bands and music. Len has played with a number of recording bands, notably Johnny O'Keefe's Touring band "Stuart Park" (1972-73) playing bass on J.O.K's No. 1 hit "Mockingbird". Len also toured with "Track" band , with Barry Case & Gary Walker in the late 70's. The band toured with Dave Pincombe (Gold Guitar Winner) and the Shiek of Scrubby Creek Chad Morgan, for a period of 4 years Australia wide. Len wrote "Morgan Magic" and "Shes Got Over You" recorded by Chad and released on several of his Albums, one being the Title Track. Barry Case & Gary Walker are now members of "The Wild Card Band" and were Best Man and Groomsman at Lens Wedding to Kath. Track released a self titled E.P. in 1979 before appearing on the Tamworth Big Show with Chad Morgan & Dave Pincombe. In the mid 80's Len played bass for Gene Bradley Fisk & the Outlaws, also recording two singles with him "W.O.L.D." and "If I Dare to Dream". Since moving to Mount Gambler, in 1999, Len soon became bassist/vocal with Allan Websters' band "Los Amigos" Allan's success in song writing soon inspired Len to once again put pen to paper, and he was soon successful in gaining 3rd Place in 2003 APRA Country song of year with a song about his son Joe titled "My Little Man" (Allan Webster won with Grandpas Words) However Len did not have to wait long before achieving success, winning 2004 APRA County song of the Year (Traditional) with "Down On The Farm". |
